<p>Obituary: - Died in St. Joseph Hospital at age 75 yrs. - Resided 502 N. 11th St., Reading - born in Reading to late Mr. and Mrs. Zacharias McDonough - Former City Councilman and school director. -Veteran of Socialist Party, elected to city council with the late former Mayor J. Henry Stump, the late Councilman Charles Sands and Steward Tomlinson, in 1936 and served until 1939. - During term as City Councilman, he was director of the Dept. of Safety. - Elected member of Reading School Board in 1929 and served until 1935. He was a member of the finance committee of the board and was active in keeping various school projects under budget. - Cigarmaker by trade. An apprentice of John Riegel at age 15 at Front and Washington Sts., then for many years after various cigar manufacturing plants. - Serious student of Socialist fundamentals and active in party for many years. At various times, unsuccessful candidate for Congress, State Legislature, and Senate. - Employed as a guard for American Chain and Cable Co., as guard from 1940 to 1953 when he retired. - Former director of Labor Advocate, the official organ of Socialist party; former Trustee of Labor Lyccum Assn., former member of Socialist County Committee, former Secretary of Willow Glen Park Assn. - Member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. - Wife, Alma Elizabeth (Derr) McDonough died in Feb. 1942. - Surviving: Daughter, Violet A. wife of Charles R.
