Brief overview:

Howard (60), was shot dead during a hijacking attempt when he was turning into his driveway at his house in Ruilpeul Avenue, in Weltevredenpark, Roodepoort, on Friday 13th July 2007.

The two perpetrators opened fire at the passenger door of his Nissan Hardbody pick-up truck, of which the first bullet narrowly missed him, however the second shot pierced his heart. The vehicle ploughed through the palisade fence and crashed into the house.

Howard's wife, of 37-years, Elaine (61), was watching television at the time, and noticed his headlamps when he turned into the driveway. She then heard a shout and two shots. She jumped up, pressed the panic buttons of ADT security and went to investigate, and found Howard dead in the car seat..
