About Howard Smith
Howard Smith, 55, of Wernersville Route 3, died Thursday in the Community General Hospital, Reading. Smith was born in the vicinity of Hill Church, north of Cleona, and he had been employed as a laborer by the Atlantic Manufacturing Company of Hamburg. He was a member of the Berks County Police Beneficial Association; Fraternal Order of Police No. 9, Reading; the American Motorcycle Association; the Tivoli Beneficial Association and its camping club, and the West Lawn Quoiting Association. He also belonged to the Citizens Hose Company of Wernersville; the Wernersville Volunteer Firemens Association; the Wernersville Memorial Home Association; the Newmanstown Volunteer Fire Company; the East End Athletic Club; the Pioneer Hose Company No. 1, Robesonia; and the Myerstown American Legion Home Association. Smith is survived by two sons: Harvey S., of Wernersville Route 3; and Charles K. Wolfe, of Reading. Two grandchildren and two brothers, Harvey, of Robesonia, and Ammon, of Lebanon.
