Huberta Ann Fox

Huberta Ann Fox, 85, of Independence, Iowa died Friday, May 24, 2013 at the ABCM Rehabilitation Centers, West Campus, Independence, Iowa.

Huberta was born on July 31, 1927, in Independence, Iowa the daughter of Bernard Ulrich Brockling and Marie Ida (Loebig) Brockling. She graduated from St. John's High School in June 1944. On November 7, 1946 she married Albert D. Fox at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence, IA.

Being a stay at home mom and caring for her and Albert's six children was Huberta's passion. She enjoyed helping on the farm when needed. She emulated hospitality – always ready with a meal for anyone at anytime. Throughout the years she gave herself to caring for her loved ones, her children, her mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and for her husband Albert with Alzheimer's.

Flower and vegetable gardening were her hobbies, she enjoyed cooking and baking, crocheting, fishing with Albert, and mostly time with all her family together.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, and St. John's Rosary Society. She spent many years volunteering at East Towne Care Center, and she was instrumental in re-establishing and coordinating the local Alzheimer's support group. She was also a Resident Advocate at East Towne Manor.

Left to cherish her memory are her six children; Gary (Linda) Fox, Janesville, WI, Marieta Cardamone (Fiance Robert Topliff), Waterloo, IA., Steve (Nyla) Fox, Jesup, IA., Danny Fox, Sumner, IA, Duane (Karen) Fox and Nancy (Mark) Zimmer both of Independence, IA., thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert on January 1, 2004, her parents, three brothers; Russell Brockling, Gilbert Brockling, and Richard Brockling, and a sister Rita Marie Brockling in Infancy.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Independence with grandsons; Caleb Zimmer, Kurt Fox, Kyle Fox, Justin Cardamone, David Fox, Zachary Fox, Keith Fox and Scott Fox serving as casket bearers. Honorary escorts will be Tad Nichols, Tim Nichols, Jeremy Beatty and the Staff of the ABCM Rehabilitation Centers. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM and a parish vigil service at 7 PM Monday.
