[2nd] s. of [Lieut.-Gen.] James John McLeod [V.C., C.B., R.E., who was present at the defence of Lucknow in the Indian Mutiny], of 9, Lexham Gardens, Kensington, London. B. [Mar. 22], 1862, at Lahore. School, Haileybury. Matric. Michs. 1880; Scholar, 1882; (Class Trip., Pt I, 1st Class, 1882; Pt II, 1st Class, 1884); B.A. 1884; M.A. 1888. Fellow, 1886-1944; Junior bursar, 1894; Senior bursar, 1898-1929. Adm. at the Inner Temple, Oct. 10, 1881. Called to the Bar, Lincoln's Inn, Mar. 16, 1887. An extremely successful Bursar, being ‘a Highlander with all the Scottish qualities of shrewdness and caution which go to make a good bursar. He was a master of reserve, and his canon was, a bursar should so draw up his accounts that only those who have the right shall understand them.’ Compiler of Fellows of Trinity College.
