Hugh Lawson Porter

Hugh Lawson William Porter Jr. Hugh Lawson William Porter Jr., 69, Springfield, Mo., died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2000, in Springfield Residential Center. Mr. Porter was bom May 7, 1931, in Newark, N.J., to Hugh Lawson and Mary Dorothy (Boyan) Porter. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Porter, N.J.; six children, Mary Fennessy, Toms River, N.J., Jeanne Screen, Monmouth Beach, N.J., Elizabeth Dante, Toms River, N.J., Penny Breece, Little River, S.C., Hugh Porter III, Springfield, Mo., and Kenton Porter, Toms River, N.J.; a sister, Joan Wires, Old Tappan, N.J.; his father, Hugh Lawson Porter Sr. and wife Jacqueline, Whiting, N.J.; and 10 grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in St. Agnes Chapel, Springfield, Mo., with Father Tom Kiefer celebrant. Private burial will be in Springfield National Cemetery at a later date under the care of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.
Hugh *was* originally buried in Springfield National Cemetery, but his cremains were disinterred and re-interred in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey.
