About Ian Douglas Tarr
Ian Tarr (1972 - 2005)
Brief overview:
Ian (33), co-owner of the Super Spar in Broadacres, near Fourways, Johannesburg, GP, was shot dead outside the store, at 04h15, on 5th November 2005.
Ian went to open up the bakery section of the family's business, when he was ambushed by a gang of at least six robbers. The armed men had taken the uniforms of security guards and waited for Tarr to arrive, said Johannesburg police spokesperson Superintendent Chris Wilken.
A shoot out ensued where Tarr returned fire. One of the robbers was injured, which lead them to flee and abort the robbery. The injured perpetrators later died.
Wilken said that three were arrested in Alexandra during the early hours of Wednesday. Police confiscated two vehicles. "All three suspects have been positively linked to the case," said Wilken. They were scheduled to appear in the Randburg magistrate's court on Friday, and Police said they would oppose any bail application.
