About Ichabod Miller

Ichabod was the son of Samuel Miller (b.1655, d.1726) and Ruth Beamon (b.1660, d.1704). He first married Hannah Christian Van Horn (b.1709, d.1735) on 6 August 1731 in Springfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts.

Hannah was the daughter of Christian Johannes Van Horn (b.1683, d.1765) and Hannah Ebenezer Jones (b.1685, d.1756).

After Hannah's death in 1735 Ichabod married a second time.

Ichabod's second wife was Sarah Holcomb (b.1719, d.1800). This second marriage was during 1742 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut.

The latter was still living in Rehoboth when Aaron Jr was born.

I decided to search a little more thoroughly, and found a record at the NEHGS web site with a different Aaron Miller, who could well be the man who married Ruth Blanchard:

1746 MILLER, ICHABOD

He, with his wife Sarah Holcomb, removed from the Old Parish to West Simbury about the year 1746. They settled on the farm that had been left by Mr. Ephraim and Mrs. Mercy Buel, both deceased. The farm was adjoining Thomas Barbers. There were nine children in this Miller family.

Parents. Born. Died. Age. Ichabod Miller, 1703,1793,90. Sarah Holcomb, 1716, 1800, 84.

Children. Born. Died. Age. Dudley, 1st, 1743, 1762, 20. He died at Havana, Aaron, 1744. He removed to Vermont. Samuel, 1746. He removed to State of New York. Sarah, 1749. Married John Merritt. Mehittabel, 1752. Sabra, 1755, 1807, 52. Married George Adams. Ruth, 1757. Moses, 1760, Married Ruth, a daughter of Richard Case, and removed to Hudson, Ohio. Dudley, 3d. 1762, 1787, 25.

This entry is from a database extracted from a rare book that listed the early settlers of West Simsbury, which is known today as Canton CT. This town is adjacent to Simsbury CT, where Ruth Blanchard was born on 2 Jul 1753 to Benjamin Blanchard and Ruth Willcockson, who had married in Simsbury on 27 Aug 1752. Here is the full database citation:

Early Settlers of West Simsbury [Now Canton], Connecticut (Online database: NewEnglandAncestors.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2004), (Orig. Pub. Hartford, Case, Tiffany, and Co. Abiel Brown, Genealogical History with Short Sketches and Family Records of the Early Settlers of West Simsbury, Now Canton, Conn. 1856, repr. NY, 1899).

This Aaron Miller was the "Aron Miller" whose birth on 16 Nov 1744 was recorded in Simsbury.
