Monticello - Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Ida E. Cauthers, widow of Dr. James A. Cauthers, who died Friday afternoon after having been ill for several weeks. The Rev. George A. Shaman of Liberty conducted the service and burial was in the family mausoleum in Rock Ridge cemetery.
Mrs. Cauthers was born August twentieth, 1863, at Glen Wild, a daughter of Thomas and Samantha Knapp. She received her schooling at Glen Wild and later in Scranton, Pa. Mrs. Cauthers was married to Dr. Cauthers July tenth, 1890. The couple then established their home here. Dr. Cauthers was for many years health officer, president of the village and a member of the local Draft Board during the war. He died in 1928.
Surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. Ralph L. Smith, wife of Surrogate's Clerk Ralph L. Smith, at whose home on Broadway Mrs. Cauthers died; four sisters, Mrs. Cora Warren of Middletown, Mrs. Nora Stratton and Miss Eva Knapp of Monticello and Mrs. Edith Calhoun of Glen Wild, and a brother, Sanford Knapp of South Fallsburgh.
