About Ida Sue Helm
MRS. C. HELM DIES AT HOME
Mrs. Ida P. Helm, Quarryville, lifelong resident of southern Lancaster County, died at 8:30pm yesterday at the Town House Nursing Home after suffering a stroke there Saturday. She would have been ninety-three on Thursday.
Mrs. Helm had been residing in the nursing home since January when she was transferred there from the Lancaster General Hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital last October after she fell and broke her hip.
Born in New Providence, a daughter of the late Hiram and Maria Brackbill Peoples, she was the widow of Dr. Charles E. Helm, a well known physician in this area.
Father in Legislature
Her father was a noted political figure in the county and was a member of the State legislature. Her brother, the late Capt. John Peoples, operated the Roof Garden on top of the Woolworth Building here and also an amusement park across from the present site of Rocky Springs Park.
She was a member of the Quarryville Reformed Church and prior to moving to Quarryville she was a member of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church. She taught Bible classes in both churches and was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She is survived by two sons, Leigh P. Helm, Marietta Pike, and Hiram P. Helm, Harrisburg. Also a sister, Miss Angie Peoples, New Providence, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
HELM---Entered into rest in Lancaster on March 31, 1958, Mrs. Ida P. Helm, widow of Dr. Charles E. Helm, of Quarryville, in her ninety-third year. The relatives are respectfully invited to attend the funeral without further notice from Reynolds Funeral Home in Quarryville on Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Zion Reformed Cemetery, New Providence. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
