Mrs. Myrtle Ida Smith, 74, Route 8, Morganton in the Enon Community, died Sunday at 5:30 pm in a Morganton Hospital following a lingering illness.

She was born in Mississippi April 5, 1888, the daughter of the late Vertis and Jane Barnes Rushing.

She was married to Draton A. Smith who survives. They had lived in Valdese for the past 12 years.
Other survivors are two sons, John and Troy Smith, both of Morganton; two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Felder, Valdese, and Mrs. A. G. Wilbon, Moss Point, Miss.; two brothers, G. M. and Luther Rushing, both of McCombs, Miss.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Jackson, Gulfport, Miss.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services in the chapel of the Valdese Funeral Home. The Rev. John Woody, pastor of Enon Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park.
