She had been a cook for Mahollands Cafe in Jerseyville, and retired as a waitress from Derby Cafe in Jerseyville in 1972. born in Moscow Mills, MO., she was the daughter of the late Lan and Margaret Elizabeth (Palmer) Kinion. Her husband, Charles Matthew Dixon, died in 1943. She later married John Henry Abeln, who died in 1957. Surviving are a son, Charles Dixon of Medora; six stepsons, Kenneth Freer, Leuis, Jim and Bobby Joe Abeln, all of Athens, John Abeln of Iowa, and Paul Abeln of Tolona; four stepdaughters, Charlotte Ethell of Athens, Pauline Moran of Cottage Hills, Helen Gwillim of Alton and Peggy Hurt of Pekin; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; 20 stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Bales of Arkansas, Ruby Morris of Elsberry, MO., and Margie Grigsby of Wyoming; and a brother, Frank Kinion of Elsberry, MO. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Saturday at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. William Hammock officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
