Some records state he was born in Satoraljaujhely in Hungary or Imreg (Imre) which is sometimes associated with Malčice although more commonly it is associated with the village of "Brekov" which is closer to Humene but still in the vicinity of the Michalovce district in Slovakia. Other record state his place of birth as Malčice, members of his family have also stated this to be accurate. His father "Herman" is believed to have been born in "Zemplínske Jastrabie or Magyar-Jesztreb" which is an approximately 15 minute drive from "Malčice"., His mother "Rose, Roza or Rozsi" was born in Szürnyeg or Sirník in “Slovak” which is adjacent to "Malčice". The name of his Mohel, during circumcision according to documentation was "Marcus/Markus Schön".
