INA LEONA HIGGASON was born July 20, 1882 in Cedar, Mahaska Co., Iowa, and died Aug. 29, 1960 at the Shane Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial was in Zearing Cemetery, Zearing, Iowa. She married LOAMI CRESSIE ALLEN, son of Esau Anderson Allen and Desty Elzira McDowell. He was born Jan. 20, 1879 in Wapello Co., Ia. and died Nov. 14, 1938 in Zearing, Ia. The 1940 census shows the recently widowed Ina, 57, and son Dale, 28, as Franklin County, Iowa residents but visiting her sister Hazel in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Former Zearing Resident Died
Mrs. Ina Allen, 78, former Zearing resident, died today at the Shane Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Christian Church at Zearing, with the Rev. Dean Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Zearing Cemetery. The body will lie in state until time for services at the Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing. Survivors include three sons, Milo and Lyle of Marion and Dale of Denver, Colo, grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Seubert of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mrs. Orpha Ruxton of Zearing; and one brother, Walter Higgason of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cressie, and two sons, Winburn and Arlo.

HIGGASON
The Higgason family was a prominent Zearing family in the early 1900's. Wallace B. Higgason was a veterinarian in our community.
Wallace Bruce Higgason and Josephine Dinsmore were married at Fremont, Iowa, on June 25, 1880.
Wallace and Josephine were the parents of five children. They were Ina, Orpha, William, Walter, and Hazel.
Ina Higgason Allen is living at Marion, Iowa, in 1955. Orpha Higgason Ruxton is a resident of our community. William is deceased. Walter lives at Amarillo, Texas. Hazel Higgason Seubert is a resident of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
