Ira Gatton Davis

Gatton Davis, 85 of Shelbyville, died Monday, February 11th at the Shelby Manor Nursing Home, Shelbyville. He was a native of Owen County; a former farmer; a retired representative of the Production Credit Association for 22 years; a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville; a member of the Elsey Sunday School Class; and a former member of the Shelbyville Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ford Davis, Shelbyville; three daughters: Mrs. Mary V. Ethington, New Castle, Mrs. Julia Smith, Lexington and Mrs. Sue Hollis, Louisville; two sons: Joe Davis, Shelbyville and James M. Davis, LaGrange; one sister: Mrs. Anna Crum, LaGrange; one brother: Garvey Davis, Louisville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 13 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Rev. Bob Vassar officiated. Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery.
