Irene M. Shultz

Irene Mary (Cichy) Schultz was born July 30, 1933, daughter of Peter and Rose (Turchin) Cichy in Leaf Mountain Township, Minnesota. Irene was baptized at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Millerville. In 1964 Irene married Marvin Schultz and the couple lived in St. Paul. Irene was the mother of two daughters, LuAnn and Brenda. She was employed at Elk Cleaners and Laundry for many years. When her daughter LuAnn was diagnosed with cancer, Irene cared for her and her family.

Irene passed away on February 19, 2002 at the age of 68. She had been a resident of Southview Acres Nursing Home in West St. Paul. Irene is survived by her husband Marvin, and daughter, Brenda of St. Paul; grandchildren: Becky, Michael, Joel, Katie, Josie and Dusty; one great-grandchild, Anastasia; three brothers: Kenneth Cichy of Brandon; Walter (Antoinette) Cichy of Woodbury; Leonard (Muriel) Cichy of Cyrus; sister-in-law: Shirley Cichy of Brandon; Marvin’s brothers and sisters and their families; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Her grandparents; parents; daughter, LuAnn; and two brothers: Ervin and Marvin Cichy, preceded Irene in death.

A vigil service was held at Kessler and Maguire Funeral Home in St. Paul on February 21, 2002. A memorial service was held on May 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brandon with Reverend Eugene Lemm officiating. Evelyn Lanners was organist, and Bernie Thoennes, soloist. Interment followed in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
