Irma Robbins, a resident of Rancho Mirage, California for over thirty years passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2010 in Nevada City, California, where she had been living for the past two and a half years. She was born in 1920 in Portland, Oregon to Belle Bloom Gevurtz and Louis Gevurtz. She attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon and received a B.S. degree from the University of Washington. She married Irvine Robbins, co-founder of Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Company, in 1942, and they lived in the San Fernando Valley with their family for thirty years. She was an avid golf and tennis player as well as being active in several art museums and organizations. Irma Robbins is survived by her children Marsha Veit of San Francisco, California, John Robbins of Soquel, California, and Erin Robbins of Nevada City, California; as well as a brother, Burton Gevurtz, of Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren and five great-grandsons. Services will be private. The family will be receiving condolences from 10:30-12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Tamarisk Country Club, 70240 Frank Sinatra Drive, Rancho Mirage.
