Services will be today at Highlands United Methodist church in Bella Vista, Ark. for Ray Linder, 68, Bella Vista, formerly of Topeka, who died Friday, October 22, 1999 at a Rogers, Arkansas hospital. He was born August 16, 1931 in Yates Center to Ernest O. and Carrie Maude Linder. He was a musician and taught music both band and vocal, for 25 years at Protection, Osborne, Russell and Washburn Rural High School in Topeka. He later was a music and art specialist for Kansas. He had served on the faculty at High Plains Music Camp at Fort Hays State University for 23 years.
He was a member of Highlands United Methodist church in Bella Vista. Hr sang in the church choir, with the Bella Vista Men's Chorus and the Vista Tones, a barbershop quartet. He played trumpet in the Bella Vista Community Band.
He and his wife, Barthilda Jo "Joey" Linder, moved to Bella Vista in 1995. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Janice Alene Burch, Grand Rapids, Minn.; and 2 granddaughters. Burial will be in the Highlands United Methodist Church Columbarium in Bella Vista. Bella Vista Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
