About Isaac Halifax Coles
Isaac "H" Coles, son of Walter Coles of "Mildendo", inherited his father's lands and purchased "Berry Hill" from his uncle, Isaac Coles. He added the "H" for "Halifax" to his name to help differentiate himself from cousins who had the same name. After Isaac "H" died childless, he passed his properties to several of the sons of his sister, Mildred H. Coles Carrington. His estate was bonded for $400,000.00. His sister Mildred received bonds worth 508 Pounds Sterling.
