About Isaac Jackson

When Isaac Jackson was born in 1787 at Westfield, Surry County (later Stokes), North Carolina, his father, Samuel Jackson Jr. was 29, and his mother, Hannah Gibson, was 23. He married Nancy Sizemore 10 DEC 1808, (Marriage bond at Stokes County NC, bondsman: Thomas Bennett) and they had one known son together. She died 1833 or before. Isaac married Jemima Luce in 1833 in Indiana, and they had seven children together. He died before July 1854 in Delaware County, Indiana. His widow Jemima died after 1870 in Fayette County, Illinois.

The year of 1760 brought many settlers to Carolina, among them were the Dearings, Vernons, Wards, Vawters, Walls, Lindsays and Jacksons. Samuel Jackson arrived from Chester County, Pennsylvania and settled along Tom’s Creek, Stokes County. Samuel had at least one son, Joseph Jackson(1761-1818) married Sarah Jessup, daughter of Joseph and Priscilla Jessup.

Isaac’s grandparents, Samuel Jackson and Catherine, came to Surry County around 1770-72 settling on Tom's Creek, later called Westfield. They were the first Jacksons in the Westfield area.
