Isaac arrived in Brisbane in 1849 on a ship called "Chaseley" which followed th e "Fortitude", He was accompanied by his wife Mary Ann(nee Harris) Markwell and at least one small son (James Isaac). Also I believe his brotherand his brother's family travelled with them. His sister and her family had come out on the earlier ship, the Fortitude. They were all brought out to Australia in a group by a Dr. Lang. Five children (I know of) of Bartholomew and Sarah Markwell emigrated to Brisbane, Mary Ann, Samuel, Isaac, William (John) and Thomas
After first staying in Fortitude valley, Isaac and Mary settled at Bulimba and were said to be involved with the drapers shop called something like "Grimes and Petty" in Queen Street. The family started to buy land, near Logan,Beaudesert, Kingaroy (Brooklands & Archoocoora) and Mitchell.
At the time of daughter Emily's marriage, his address is given as Ingleby, Upper Logan
