Isaac Belfield Milam

Isaac Belfield was born 1 Nov 1820 in Hickman Co., TN. He was the son John Belfield Milum and Lavisa Louise Hamby. Jordan S. Milam and Mary Peacock were his paternal grandparents. When he came to Arkansas, his mother accompanied him because his father had died in 1842 and was buried in TN. Isaac was a blacksmith by trade. He and Rebecca had 11 children. Rebecca died on 1 Jan 1891 and Isaac married a second time 25 Nov 1891, at the age of 71. His second wife was Malinda Lowry Cantrell (widow of A.C.Cantrell). He and Malinda had 2 daughters, Rebecca Bell and Sarah Ethel. Isaac died in 1899 in Dry Creek, Boone Co., AR. He is buried in Old Milum, along with his mother, and both of his wives

Issac Belfield Milam operated a grist mill two miles east of Harrison, on Crooked Creek. He and his brother Gideon Milam were said to be overfond of gambling and drinking.
The 1860 Carroll County, Washington Township, lists Issac as 40, a farmer and blacksmith. His land is worth $1600, and he possesses $450. Wife Rebecca is also listed, as well as children Sarah, Martha, Sophronia, "Lavina", Thomas, and Harriet.
The 1880 Jackson Township, Boone County, Arkansas census lists Issac as a blacksmith.
