BIOGRAPHICAL
From Oregon Statesman 19 Jan 1902, pg 12:
A photograph of the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Wagner with the following caption: "The above illustration is the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Wagner, seven miles south of Salem, Marion County. Their farm consists of 320 acres, of which 290 are in cultivation - ??0 in grain, and the remainder used for orchard, berries, etc. A change from grain farming to that of dairying is being made. They make butter at home, and help supply the city trade at 25 cents a pound the year through. Eleven cows comprise their herd, and of their product 30 to 50 pounds is sold each week. The Wagner family is numbered among the pioneers of Oregon."

OBITUARY:
OREGON PIONEER DEAD.
One of Oregon's most highly respected and well known citizens has passed away, and another place in the ranks of the old pioneers is vacant. I. M. Wagner died at the home of his nephew, Mat Woods, in Turner, yesterday, April 3, 1905, at 10:30 o'clock a. m. of a complication of disease. Had deceased lived until the 1st of July he would have been 79 years old. He was born in Iowa, July 1, 1827, and on June 6, 1847, he was married to Miss Catherine Adams.
They crossed the plains in 1856, and settled in California for a short time, when they moved to Southern Oregon, and finally came to Salem, where they settled on a farm seven miles south of this city, on the Jefferson road, which is an old land mark in this county. It has been his home until the time of his death. His wife preceded him two years ago. Ten children were born to them, five boys and five girls, all of whom are living, and are as follows: Mrs. Esther Neal, Jefferson; Phillip Wagner, Garfield; Mrs. C. L. Glenn, Spokane; Mrs. Monroe Nye, Mrs. Chas. Bruce, Alonzo Wagner, of Portland; Adolphus Wagner and Perry Wagner, of Tillamook county, Mat Wagner and Mrs. D. F. Jerman, of Salem.
He also leaves numerous other relatives. Mr. Wagner had just returned a week ago from a trip East, where he went last October, and all during his visit he was ailing, and upon his arrival home he grew rapidly worse, and yesterday morning passed to his final resting place. he was a an of high moral standing, loved and respected by all who knew him. He had a pleasant word for everyone, and his familiar figure will be missed in this city. He was a kind and indulgent father, and his children are sorrow-stricken over his death. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 10 o'clock, at Turner, and the interment will be held at the Odd Fellows' cemetery, in this city, where appropriate services will be held.

EARLY PIONEER IS DEAD.
I. M. Wagner Passes Away at Home of Nephew in Turner, Age 79 Years.
Another gap in the ranks of the brave souls who carved out Oregon's future years ago was made Monday, when I. M. Wagner received the summons of the Grim Reaper and passed to his reward in the Great Beyond. Death came to this early pioneer at the home of his nephew, Matt Woods, at Turner, in the 79th year of his life. The cause of his taking off was a complication of diseased, couples with old age. The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock this morning at Turner, and the interment will be at the Odd Fellows' cemetery in this city. I. M. Wagner was born in Iowa on July 1, 1827, and was married twenty years.
