Isabel HARDY [step-daughter of John Hardy]

William Mayo, born c. 1645. He was married to Isabel Hardy the [STEP-]daughter of Capt. John Hardy, born in England about 1637 and his 1st wife, Olive Council dau. of John Council & Elizabeth Drake.

She married first Arthur Allen Sr. about 1626 in England and migrated to the American colonies with her husband:

“Arthur Allen, of Surry, the emigrant, married Alice Tucker, sister of Daniel Tucker. His son, Major Arthur Allen. . .

After her first husband died in 1669/1670 she married John Hardy and is mentioned in his will as his wife:

"John Hardy. Leg. Daughter Olive Driver, wife of Giles Driver; daughter Lucy Council, wife of Hodges Councill; daughter Debora Hardy; daughter Olive Driver's two children; daughter Lucy Council's three children; my wife's grandchild John Johnson; son in law Robert Burnett; William Mayo."

Allen died late in May or early in June 1669. On May 15 he sat with the county court, but by the middle of June, when the tax list was compiled, his widow, Alice Tucker Allen, was charged with the eleven tithables resident at Allen’s plantation. She later married a widower, John Hardy, of Isle of Wight County.
