About Isabella of Gloucester and Hertford

November 2, 1226—Isabel de Clare was born. She was the granddaughter of Sir Richard de Clare, 4th Earl of Hertford, a Magna Carta Surety. Her other grandfather was Sir William Marshall, the 1st Earl of Pembroke (the greatest knight who ever lived).

When she was 15, she married Sir Robert Bruce “the Competitor,” 2nd Lord of Annandale. Thus she became the paternal grandmother of Robert the Bruce, King Robert I, King of Scots. She died sometime abt 1254. It is doubtful she saw her 30th birthday.
