Irene Isabelle Haislip Seftas, 87, of Fredericksburg passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015. She was born on Aug. 2, 1927. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Anthony Peter Seftas; her children, Mary Roxanne Seftas and Peter Richard Seftas and his wife, Mary Ann; and her cherished grandson, Pete Anthony Seftas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Hobson Haislip. Isabelle was a gourmet cook and an avid gardener, and loved to play bridge. She graduated from Spotsylvania High School, Mary Washington College and received her master’s degree from the University of Virginia. She was a member of the Mary Ball Women’s Club, the Confederate Ridge Garden Club, and was a lifetime member and past president of the Ladies’ Elks Auxiliary. She trained as a dietitian at the Statler Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio. After returning to Fredericksburg, she was a dietitian at James Monroe High School and Mary Washington Hospital. After her children were born, she taught biology in Stafford and Fairfax counties. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
