Israel Arnold, son of Stephen and Sarah (Smith) Arnold was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 30, 1649. [1][2] [3][4][5]
He married April 16, 1677, Mary Smith (widow of Elisha Smith), daughter of James and Barbara (Dungan) Barker. [1][2] [3] [6] [4]
They resided on lands given to him by his father Stephen on the south side of the 'Arnold Purchase' at Pawtuxet, Rhode Island. [4] [5]
1681 Admitted a freeman. [2] [5] 1683: 90: 91: 1700: 02: 03: 05: 06: Served as deputy to the General Court. [2] [5] 1690 Member of a commission to apportion the taxes of the colony among the several towns. [2] [5] 1703 Protested with others against the expenditure of money for sending agents to England.[2] Israel died at Warwick, Rhode Island on September 15, 1716. [2] [3] [4] [5]
His will dated March 23, 1717, was proved September 23 of that year [4], and was administered by his wife Mary and son Joseph[2]. In it he names:

(p. 314)[6] He married second Dec. 24, 1719, Dorothy (Whipple) Rhodes, widow of Malachi and thirdly Elizabeth (Stafford) Case. [8] [5] William [3] was born at Warwick, about 1681; and died at Warwick in June, 1759. He married about 1705, Deliverance Whipple, who was born February 11, 1679. [2] [5] Stephen [3] born about 1685; married first Sarah, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Arnold) Greene on Nov. 28, 1706; married second Jane Blount on Dec. 28, 1727. [8] [5] Sarah [3] ; born about 1688-90; died Warwick, Rhode Island on November 26, 1727; married on December 21, 1708, Silas Carpenter Jr. of Providence, [1]Silas died on June 13, 1751.
