Israel Hamlin

Savage says of him: "Israel, 27 June 1652, tho. Col. Rec. gives 1655".

The church records show that he married twice. His first wife was Abigail, who died about the year 1700, and may have been a daughter of Joshua Lumbard. His second wife was named Jemima. The records do not give their surnames.

Israel resided in the east parish. His house was on Dimmock's Lane, by a pond yet known as Israel's Pond, about a mile and a half south of the County road. It was a solitary spot, his nearest neighbor more than half a mile distant. He cleared away only a small space in the forest, and farming could not have been his principal occupation.

Israel is named in the will of his father on 23 January 1683.

Brother Israel Hamlin of Barnstable was mentioned in the will of James Hamlin dated 13 September 1717.

Inventory of the estate of Israel Hamlin is dated 2 July 1729, at Barnstable. The estate was valued at L45.14.00.

He married Abigail Lombard. Abigail was the daughter of Joshua Lombard. Abigail died 1700.

She married Ebenezer Hamblen, 11 MAY 1710, in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Ebenezer was born 12 MAY 1683, in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
