About Itzhak Yakov Rivkind
Itzhak Yakov Rivkind was born to the Halperin family in Koidanov (today Dziaržynsk) near Minsk in Belarus. He changed his last name to Rivkind to avoid being drafted to the Russian Army. Right after WWI and the revolition in Russia, the family escaped via Poland and ended up in Israel in the early 1920s. Itzhak lived to see the creation of the State of Israel in 1948. He was a direct descendant of Rabbi Yechiel Heilprin (Seder Hadorot).
