About Jack Sarich
Ivan Šarić arrived at Fremantle, Western Australia on 23 July 1926 on the vessel, "Orama". Ivan had only married his wife, Matija, three months before (on 15 February 1926). He was known as Jack Ivan Sarich in Australia. See the following:
Ivan returned to Croatia for a period of five years in the 1930s. His three children were conceived during that period.
Ivan left Fremantle on 20 October 1930 on the vessel, "Ormonde" for Europe. He returned to Australia on 23 July 1935 on the vessel, "Oronsay". Ivan lived with his cousins — Ante and Mate Šarić — at 555 Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in the 1930s.
Jack served in the Australian Army during WWII. He enlisted at Boulder, Western Australia on 21 June 1942 with his cousin — Ante Šarić. He held the rank of Private in the 8 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corp (Service No. W73052). See the following:
After the war, the Sariches left Kalgoorlie for the coast. Jack lived at 12 Collie Street, Fremantle. His brother — Mate — lived "up the road" at 22 Hickory Street, South Fremantle. Jack later worked on a fishing boat, and moved to 454 South Terrace, South Fremantle, then to 70 Marine Terrace.
