'Slickpot' Payne
Ivan Leroy "Slickpot" Payne, 83, of Fairview Beach died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was a member of Two Rivers Baptist Church and the VFW. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps.
"Slickpot" is survived by his wife, Nelda Lee Payne; two daughters, Karen Rice of Orange, Mass., and Margaret Perry of Fairview Beach; two sons, Spencer N. Payne of Fairview Beach and Roger L. Payne of Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Christine Gallahan of Spotsylvania County and Florence Shelton of Stafford County; three brothers, Everett Payne of Falmouth and Carroll Payne and Togie Payne, both of Stafford County; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. William E. Jeffcoat officiating. Interment will follow in Falmouth Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 26, at the funeral home.
