MOORESVILLE - J. W. "Chris" Dellinger, 83, of Mooresville died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, May 14, at Peninsula Baptist Church in Mooresville with the Rev. Robert Jackson and the Rev. David Simon officiating. Burial will take place at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte at 3 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to noon Friday at Peninsula Baptist Church prior to the funeral.
Born March 9, 1927, he was the son of the late W. H. and Annie Mae Caudle Dellinger.
He retired from the transportation Industry, Bowman Company. "Chris" proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed on Guam. He was a member of Peninsula Baptist Church and was active in the VFW of Statesville.
Chris was also preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Ann Dellinger and sisters, Billy Yon, Evelyn Gilley and Naomi Contamarinus.
He is survived by his sons, Richard E. Dellinger (Wanda) of Charlotte, Kenneth Dellinger of Mooresville, Danny C. Dellinger (Patty) of Wesley Chapel and David L. Dellinger of Matthews; a brother, Bill Dellinger (Connie) of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive him.
"Chris" was truly in love with Jesus Christ and his smile was the reflection of this amazing love.
