Jack Henry Erhardt, 89, of Niles, Michigan passed away at Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation on January 15, 2007 following an illness.
Jack was born to the late George and Edith (Whiteman) Erhardt on May 19, 1918 in South Bend, Indiana.
After serving his country proudly during WWII he married the love of his life May (Miller) at a ceremony in Battle Creek, Michigan on April 1, 1947.
Jack enjoyed playing bingo or cards, doing gardening or doing yard work. His dog "Poochie" kept Jack company and it could truly be said that he was man's best friend. Jack was also a member of the American Legion Post #50 of South Bend, Indiana.
Preceding Jack were his wife May, his mother and father, his brother George Erhardt, and his two sisters Joann Burton and Mary Erhardt.
Surviving Jack are his four daughters: Lorie (Terry) Willis of Niles, Diana Scott of Niles, Janie (George) Willard of Lakeland, Florida, and Barbara (Mike) Matheos of South Bend, Indiana, his four sons: Jack Erhardt of South Bend, Indiana, Thomas (Marlene) Erhardt of Mishawaka, Indiana, George (Bonnie) Erhardt and Dennis (Donna) Erhardt all of Niles. He will also be greatly missed by his five sisters; Jean Van Bellingham of South Bend, Elizabeth McGowen of South Dakota, Edith Jordan of Wyatt Indiana, Betty (Art) Gember of Three Oaks, Michigan, Caryl (Hutch) Stevens of Florida, his 22 grandchildren and hosts of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at Huntly Baptist Church, 1139 Huntly Rd. Niles, Michigan.with services January 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Huntly Baptist Church also with Tom Clabaugh officiating.
