He lived his entire life in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania. He and his twin brother Jacob were born in Westmoreland Co., Penn. Farmer and cooper. Married Mary Ann Husband while in Pennsylvania, moved to Richland Co, Ohio 1837 & settled in Putman Co, OH, Riley twp, in hewed log house about one mile east of the old Rothen house. Died 1852, buried in Clymer Cemetary.

Nicholaus moved in 1837 to Ohio where he lived the rest of his life.
