BARKEY.- On the 2nd of March, in Harvey Co., Kansas, of typhoid pneumonia, of which he suffered severely about two weeks, Bro. Jacob Barkey [sic Berkey], aged ___ [about 37]. He bore his sufferings with Christian meekness, rejoicing as he said in the consciousness of having passed from death unto life. A bereaved companion and seven children are left to mourn their loss. He was buried at Holdemans grave-yard.
Funeral services were conducted by Daniel Brundage and Jacob Holdeman, from Isa. 38:1: "Set thine house in order, for thou shalt die and not live."
