About Jacob Copeman

Jacob Copman or Jack Copeman was born 1873 in Ligowe Lithuania which may be Laizuva in Lithuania. (a) He comes to Dublin we are not sure when and marries Millie Fine in Wales in 1897. (b) According to the wedding invitations his parents are Mr and Mrs B. Copman (c) The wedding cert states that his father is Barnet Copman, a publican. (d) His headstone in Dublin states his father's Hebrew name. It was Dov. (e) In 1908 with several children, a daughter is born. He names her Tamara Gitel. The wife of Myer Joel Wigoder was Tamara Gitel Copeman b 1862 in Laizuva. She has died in 1906 and her headstone reads Tamara Gitel bat Dovid Joseph. It appears Jacob's daughter may have been named for his recently deceased sister. Millie Fine's family in Wales has come from Salante in Lithuania about 50 miles from Laizuva and it seems the Fine family in Wales may have known of the Copeman family back in Lithuania.

There is every reason to believe Jacob Copman who later, together with his 8 children, uses the name Copeman is a brother of Tamara Gitel Wigoder nee Copeman
