Jacob and his brother Henry married sisters. Mary was Susannah West's younger sister. Land grant and pension application papers state that Jacob served in the War of 1812 as a TN volunteer under the command of Capt. John Kennedy. In her Pension Application, Polly West Davis stated that when she married Jacob Davis, this was the first marriage for both of them. Jacob & Polly are believed to have had 13 children, only 9 of which are listed in the 1850 census. James Ennis listed in the 1840 Census is believed to be a son or stepson of Rebecca Davis.
