About Jacob B. De Demott
Jacob son of Richard was born Columbia County, and followed farming all his life, after his marriage settling on the farm in Madison township now owned by his son Cyrus. He was a prosperous man and prominent in all the activities of his locality, serving as justice of the peace, county commissioner (before the counties were divided) and supervisor of the poor. Catherine Patton daughter of John died in 1869. Her family came from New Jersy.
