About Jacob Diamond
Jacob's mother's name was Rebecca. He worked in the textile industry in Brooklyn, NY. He was very skilled at making articles of clothing. His daughter, Sylvia, used to come home (as a teen) with her sketches of dresses from the windows of "high-class) stores in NYC; Jacob would turn the sketch into a pattern and make her a copy of the dress or outfit. He was also very involved in helping to establish unions for the textile workers. The infamous Triangle Fire in NYC was a heart-breaker for the family in many ways, and one of many indicatiors of the need for unionization and safety regulations for the early 1900s industry.
