Jacob Valentine Hege Jr. was the son of Jacob Valentine Hege Sr. (1769-1855) (went by Valentine) and Barbara (last name unknown). No vital dates are known for Barbara and it is not known where she is buried. Other records show Jacob was the son of Sarah Clodfelter (1773-1843).

Jacob married first to Catherine Wesner/Weisner (1791-1857) on 20 Jun 1820 at Rowan (became Davidson) County, North Carolina. Jacob and Catherine were the parents of five known children, namely:

1. Maria Hege (1822-???)
2. John Hege (1824-???)
3. Valentine Felty Hege (1827-1901)
4. Samuel Hege (1829-1894)
5. Jacob Hege Jr. (c1832-1862)

After Catherine died Jacob remarried to Elizabeth Maria Weesner (1811-1887) in 1860 at forsyth County, North Carolina. Jacob and Elizabeth did not have any known children. Were Catherine and Elizabeth sisters?
