About Jacob Hipke

Jacob came to America in 1853, two years before the rest of the family. He worked on the construction of the Illinois-Central Railroad. When he had saved $600 he returned to Germany and brought over his mother and the other children. Jacob Hipke's home was purchased by H. Vinz as reported in the Calumet Co. Rep. Sept 30, 1908.
