About Jacob Hummer
Some sources claim the name is actually Homer.
He married Mary Matthews on January 23, 1813. The minster was named Hunt.
He died on October 2, 1852. Several sources say he died in Bronte, Upper Providence, Ontario, Canada. It is unclear how or why he went there.
The family tree before Jacob is unclear. Jacob, along with his descendants, lived in Hunterdon, NJ and were closely associated (same names, same church) with a number of other Hummers who were descended from two brothers (Herbert and Adam Hummer/Homer/Hammer) who immigrated to Hunterdon from Oberhumrich, Hommefeld, Neuwied, Germany. However, no direct link to the Herbert and Adam Hummer from Jacob Hummer has ever been established.
Another source (one Ancestry.com user) states that Jacob Hummer is descended from a group of Hummers from (apparently) England. This is the ancestry depicted on Geni.com.
