About Jacob Lefkovits
Jacob immigrated to the U.S. in 1881, Sally came in 1883.
As of the 1900 census, Sally and Jacob had had 7 children, 5 of whom were still living. At this time, the family lived at 658 North Irving Ave., Chicago, IL. Jacob ran a grocery store. At this time, Jacob owned his house (had a mortgage on it). He and his entire family could read, write and speak English (except for Mary and David, who were too young to be in school).
Possibly had a brother named Adolph? The 1900 census record lists Adolph and Sadie Lefkovits as living a few houses down on the same street with their two children, Morris and Rose. Adolph and Sadie, like Sally and Jacob, were also from "Hungary" in the census.
