Jacob Lownds was an inventor from New York City and Philadelphia who patented a Pencil and Pen Case on September 22, 1836, U.S. Patent No. 32.
"LOWNDS - On Thursday, March 18, JACOB I. LOWNDS, in the 61st year of his age. Relatives and friends of the family, and the members of Pencil Case Makers' Association, are invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, 44 Charlton street, on Sunday Afternoon, at two o'clock.
