Land Ownership

Jacob Rinck first owned a parcel of 50 acres of land on the waters of the Collins River, in Warren County, Tennessee, then on June 23, 1824 he filed for an adjoining parcel of 20 acres, which was surveyed in 1826. On Sept. 22, 1832 Jacob filed for a 150 acre parcel also adjoining his own land entry # 3523 and surveyed July 20, 1837. This entry mentioned that the survey was transferred to a Uriah Whitman. but no date of transfer was recorded.

Jacob lived in Warren County and Grundy County, Tennessee, then moving about 1837 to DeKalb County Alabama. living in what is now Etowah County, Alabama. His land adjoined his father-in-law, Andreas Seitz. At his death the home and land went to his spinster daughters, Anna and Rhoda Rink.

One of their neighbors was Mary Ann Polly Maise, wife of William H. Cooper. They moved to Jackson County, Alabama, before the 1860 census. Cooper left Polly; she had two sons and one daughter - Dora - and was expecting another baby. (See notes on Dora Ann Cooper, #49699.) Anna and Rhoda raised Dora Cooper and left her the old Rinck farm house that is now relocated at Pioneer Park, Nocculula Falls, in Gadsden, Alabama.
