About Jacob Rolfs
The death of Jacob Rolfs, one of the long-time citizens of Davenport, occurred Wednesday night at his home, after a long and severe illness. He was born at Schwabstadt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, 60 years ago, and came to America and to Davenport in 1863. He was married here to Miss Katharine Oehlertz. In 1882 the family moved to Tama County, where they resided upon a farm for 10 years, returning to Davenport in 1802, By trade Mr. Rolfs was a tailor. After returning to Davenport he was elected justice of the peace. He is survived by his wife and the following son and daughters: Mrs. E. B. Howard, Mrs. Fred Tiesen, Mrs. John Brockmann, Mrs. John M. McMahon, Mrs. Minnie DeLaney, Mrs. E.A. Moeller, Miss Ella Rolfs and one son, Herman C. Rolfs. The funeral will be held from the family home, 226 West Sixteenth street.
