Biography

Jacob Vinal was born on September 2, 1670 in Scituate. He was son of John and Elizabeth (Baker) Vinal.

Jacob married Mary Cudworth in Scituate on February 12, 1695/6. Mary and Jacob resided in Scituate where all of their children were born. They had eleven (11) children, two of whom were their namesakes: Mary b. 3 Jan 1696/7; Israell b. 21 Sep 1698; Jacob b. Sep 1700; Nicholas b. 28 Feb 1703/4; John b. 1705; Jonathan Feb 1707/8; Joanna b. 15 Jan 1711/2; Job b. 6 Apr 1713; Elizabeth b. 1 Nov 1715; Ignatious b. 30 Oct 1717; and Seth b. 11 Mar 1719.

Jacob executed his Will on 26 Apr 1733. He passed away before 1 Nov 1736, the date probate was initiated regarding his estate. Widow Mary and son Jacob Jr. were named in Jacob's Will as his co-executors. His brother John Vinal Jr. provided testimony on 1 Nov 1736 to the Court of his witness to his brother's signing and sealing his Will.

Jacob's Will named his wife Mary and several children as his heirs: sons Jacob Jr., Israel, John, Job, Jonathan, and Seth; and daughters Mary Elmes and Elizabeth Vinal ( noted as "unmarried" in the Will, which was executed on April 26, 1733). As above mentioned, his wife Mary and son Jacob Jr. were named as co-executors. His inventory was taken on 8 October 1736 in Scituate.[1]

In 1736, his sons Seth and Ignatius Vinal between the age of 14 and 21 years, made the choice of Mr. Israel Vinall of Scituate to be his guardian.[1]

In 1745, an account of his estate is recorded.[2]
