About Jacob T Whitaker
7 Jacob T Whitaker son of Isaac was born 30 August 1808 in Vassalboro. In 1826 Jacob and his brother James were disowned by the Unity Quaker Church for neglect in attendance of meetings, departure from planess of dress and for watching the local militia training. Jacob and James purchased some land in Troy in 1829 but lost it for non-payment of taxes in 1830. Jacob married Barbara Webb of Unity around 1828. On 5 November 1833 he purchased land at Gerrish corner, approx 40 acres. He built and operated a saw mill on Bog Brook with Hall Myrick. Jacob had 9 children. He died 18 May 1859 in Troy, of Cancer of the neck.
