About Jacob Widmer
The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to First Sergeant Jacob Widmer, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 29 September 1879, while serving with Company D, 5th U.S. Cavalry, in action at Milk River, Colorado. First Sergeant Widmer volunteered to accompany a small detachment on a very dangerous mission.
