Jacoba (63), and her husband Gert Petrus Slabbert (68), were attacked on their Klipfontein farm, outside Cullinan, on 21th July 1999. Gert was shot dead. Jacoba was seriously wounded and taken to the Unitas Hospital in Centurion. Jacoba died 2 days later on 23rd July.
The couple was seen late in the afternoon on 20th July, on their holding, Klipfontein, which located about 20 km outside Cullinan.
Acting Commander of the Pretoria murder and robbery unit, Sr. Supt. Rudi van Olst, said it was still difficult to determine when the couple was shot. They were probably raided in their home late last night or in the early hours of the morning.
Insp. Gideon Thessner, police spokesman in Pretoria, said a resident of a nearby holding said a worker came to call him yesterday morning because it was very quiet at the couple's home.
Anita Labuschagne, the Slabbert couple's daughter, hastily flew with her husband from Cape Town last night to assist her mother in Pretoria.
